Yes, it is true that Dr Seuss Enterprise decided to no longer publish 6 of it's books. But that was done due to "increasing criticism in recent years over the way Black people, Asian people and others are drawn..." according to CBS News. However, many of the whimsical characters are not drawn out of malice but from actual depictions of people during his era. For instance, the book, "If I Ran a Zoo" written in 1950. If you Google "1950 pictures of African tribes" you will find real life black and white photos of tribesmen that look very similar to the cartoon characters in that book. The same can be said for the Chinese character in the 1937 book, "And to Think I saw it on Mulberry Street". The books are historical references, not racist.
