Unfortunately I can’t give “no stars” so I’ll have to settle with the one but it’s definitely not my sentiment.
The movie was terrible in pretty much every way. The acting was poor, the dialogue was poor, the action was extremely poor.
The original Matrix and subsequent sequels were dark, gritty, serious movies. It made you feel like life really was messed up and there was no hope. This movie misses that memo. It’s made to be light and fun with an attempt for comedy which just doesn’t do it for me as a Matrix fan.
I didn’t enjoy the movie at all and most of the time I was grabbing my head in confusion and disbelief that they would actually put that out and think it’s good. I thought it could have and should have been a lot better and was highly disappointed, which brings me to my next and final point.
I went in with very high expectations as I’m sure a lot of people did. Why wouldn’t we? It’s the Matrix, it’s the Wachowskis, it’s Keanu and Carrie Ann Moss. It’s been decades and the trailers were ridiculously amazing. It didn’t deliver.
However, with all that said I wouldn’t be the one to tell anyone else NOT to watch it; I don’t think that’s fair, but what I would say is if you do choose to see it, go in with very low expectations and then maybe you’ll find a way to enjoy it.
