This is a beautiful series to watch. The use of color is amazing and reminiscent a Peter Greenaway. The costuming is gorgeous as well. Within the movie there are moments of small tribute to other films set as silence of the lambs and the shining it's fun to try to spot them. The show is extremely well cast. The acting is good with just a touch of melodrama and over the top when it should be. The characters are surprisingly complex and develop over the course of the 1st season. The reason why I did not give it 5 stars is some of the plot devices just do not quite work for me. A lot of The Times I am able to suspend my disbelief but there are a few that are such a stretch that I just could not. Still it is a highly entertaining series and incredibly well done. I certainly recommend watching it. However if you are prone to be a little queasy about blood or violence you may want to be careful with some of the Episodes.
