I came to the teaching profession as a second career after 9/11, I was a psychotherapist and taught my clients how to become conscious is the most sane process we can give ourselves, our family and our countries of origin. Now as an educator, I came across this gem and loved Freire's concept of Conscientization in education. As a teacher of the NM Borderlands for the past 20 years, this book is so relevant whenever I teach any subject; my objective is to have my students have consciousness of what they learn and why. This book was introduced in my PhD curriculum of Transformative Learning and Change.
