I loved the premise. Second chances, showing people can better themselves and learning to love the unordinary. This movie had a lot of good qualities but had some glaring issues that to me held it back from being truly great. I want to premise by saying I still liked the movie. I would rewatch it, I also would totally recommend anyone watch it. I would like to say that before someone does they are aware of some of the cons (see what I did there) of the movie. The movie had a long run time of about 2 hours but at the same time felt rushed. The character development felt skimmed over. No delving into too much of the main characters past or any of the side characters. There was so many opportunities to build a relationship with some of the side characters whether that be a good or a bad relationship. I also feel like the relationship between the main character Eddie Palmer and the child Sam, was so rushed that within the span of 5 minutes Palmer was in his head the guardian of the child and wanted to do anything he could to protect him. I love that about the character development but I feel like if the director had opted for a longer run time (which I think alot of directors are afraid to do anymore and rightfully so in some cases, there is a risk in drawing out a movie for too long) there was an opportunity to really build an emotional attachment to the characters and their thought processes. Overall, again, I liked the movie alot, I just wished that I could have seen more development in the story to build that attachment.
