This is an excellent but genuinely terrifying movie. Very funny in parts -- like the prayer for "stuff" and a very accurate condemnation of our society's emphasis on triviality. But terrifying in its implications that, as DICaprio in the guise of an ordinary scientist, says, "we had it all" -- we have a beautiful planet filled with all forms of life and we're losing it because of our blatant refusal to listen to science and address climate change. I woke up to hear the wind whistling loudly and echoing the doomsday message of the film.

I am also very impressed with this series. It's so remarkably unsensational -- no high jinks of terror, sex, anger, murder -- instead everything is portrayed in a very simple human way. And, as a writer myself, I know how hard it is to be simple. The writers and director deserve so much credit for the audacity to create a series so contrary to the norm on TV. And to stick to those principles. It also seems to be very "Jewish" in its humanism, its ability to convey the depths of human existence in the most ordinary, unvarnished context. With actors who are so unadorned but so appealing.
