I was drawn to watching this show due to the concept of learning about cuisines around the world, however as the show progressed I came to realise that it was not in fact showcasing global food excellence. Each week, unfortunately not surprisingly, contestants who were female and / or not white were eliminated. The whole continent of Africa and most of Asia didn't even feature. This programme is sadly a very clear example of white male privilege. I very much look forward to a similar show but where there is emphasis on gender and racial equality - surely we should be striving to be more progressive than what the final table had served up.
