Seeing some of these reviews describing this series as "woke" or "anti-cop" is really humorous. Folks need to stop being so sensitive and bothered by entertainment that has storyline around things that happen in real life like BLM or tensions between Black communities and police. I thought the series presented a good argument from Alex Cross himself defending what police do and why they are needed in the early episodes. Just because entertainment addresses real life issues that aren't your lived experience or you don't wanna acknowledge doesn't make it "woke." People have to stop projecting their own political views on entertainment that tells a story they choose not to like. Grow up.
Is "Alex Cross" a perfect series? No. I thought Aldris Hodge was great, but the series was meandering at times, and the attempt to make the lighting so minimal was overdone at times. But as a storyline it was interesting and kept my attention (even with heavy borrowing from The Slience of the Lambs and Seven for plot parts). It could have been a couple episodes shorter, and some of the characters were unnecessary. But it did have some nice plot twists and surprises... and was suspenseful. Most of all, it didnt have Tyler Perry, which was a big plus.
Overall, it's much better than a lot of recent streaming services' series out there, and I am looking forward to them exploring the character more in future seasons and improving on streamlining the writing in the future. But folks should check their own bias before calling this series "woke" or "anti-cop" - it's nothing of the sort.
