First things first, I’m not normally one to leave reviews, particularly on video games, but the amount of hate this game is receiving is absurd to say the least.
In my opinion, this is an amazing video game and it truly blurs the line between art and gaming in a way that hasn’t really been seen before. Gameplay doesn’t reinvent the wheel, by any means, but is solid and keeps you entertained throughout. Now for what seems to be the problem for many: plot.
Personally, I found the story to be compelling and should be appreciated singularly and without comparison to the first game. If you haven’t reached Seattle yet, stop here to avoid SPOILERS.

Yes, Joel dies early in the game. Yes, everyone loves Joel and he was a great character in TLOU, BUT... there would literally be no story worth exploring without this death. Since the game was announced, the theme of revenge was speculated about as well as the dark nature of the game. Well, Naughty Dog delivered that. Unfortunately, 90% of the poor reviews come from stereotypical gamers who are sexist, spoiled, bigoted, and generally incapable of appreciating a good story. What a disappointment it is to see that the gaming community has shown it’s true colors in this way.
However, if you’re a sensible gamer who appreciates an involving and deep plot with complex character development, this is a game that doesn’t disappoint. Also, for all the haters out there, remember, it’s just a video game. Joel never existed, no one actually killed him, and when you turn the console off, it’s like nothing ever happened.
5/5 Will play again
