I understand why some people seem to like this movie. One of the main themes of this movie involves a truly concerning topic regarding the state of old people in care homes. Also, the cast have done an admirable job in their respective roles.
That's it. That's about all there is to like about this movie.
Because the plot has more holes than a fishing net, a ruthless mob is portrayed as a bunch of lemons who don't even know to kill properly, and we are forced to see an over-the-top, overly desperate wannabe feminist who goes into a pretentious monologue every time she pulls off an intolerable act of evil.
I saw a few reviews where ppl mention how the world is full of such characters and it's the reality etc. Look, if i wanted to be hit by reality, then I would see the main character get murdered within 5 minutes of the mob king being introduced. That's why I know this is far from a realistic movie - and we live in a world where the fast and furious movies exist !!
And what is with the misguided and forced portrayal of feminism in movies at times ?! If this character is hated, it sure ain't cuz she's a female, it's cuz she's an intolerable leech. Also, the mob king's death threats are less threatening than her heels.
The worst part, however, is the way the director showed his cards with the final scene - it's obvious he shoehorned a scene where she dies just cuz he wanted to maybe pass on some pretentious message of karma. If he was serious about it, the plot would've moved much differently.
Movies such as this assume the audiences are stupid, not to mention they waste the talents of a good cast. Calling this movie as merely unsatisfactory would be the most polite and hardest thing to do. It's simply a story that does nothing but get in it's own way. Pathetic watch.
