Good movie. Great to see Thalaivar in his traditional mass portrayal.. Hats off to his energy at this age..
Complements to the crew for their efforts to show Thalaivar the way we would like to watch as fans.
Few things the movie is missing though for it to be really compared as THE RAJNI MOVIE as claimed by the makers, as per the standards set by the likes of Basha, Muthu, Padaiappa, Annamalai and even the recent Kabali
- RAJNI BRAND is more than just mass.. There is strong portrayal of values (family, friendship, love, society etc) and subtle messages that sticks for long after one watches a Rajni movie, which Petta lacks or at least fails to communicate..
- The movie doesn't completely establish the charecter prominance of Kaali, unlike the ones we have seen in the past. There are few areas where the charecter looks extremely appealing, but the momomentum doesn't seem to continue as movie progresses
- Climax, in the name of uniqeness, goes against all the above expectations.. Wonder if I really wanted to see Thalaivar in the way he is portrayed in the climax..
- Unused charecters (Simran, Bobby Sinha, Thrisha etc) not sure if they were needed at all..
Net-net, good one time watch for sure.. Kudos and respect to Thalaivar..
Long live and keep inspiring!!
