A timeless classic. The simple story of what you want Vs what you actually desire. Watch and enjoy, your have to be without culture not to. Shot largely on location in Mull, most of what you see of the scenery is real. Corryvreckan whirlpools in a movie! (That bit is less real)

The story is inspirational, the portrayal exceptional. The emotion, engagement and complicated simplicities of the story draw you in. Touching and relatable, this should be on the shortlist for recognition this year. Maybe it helps having been to Papay, but the isolation, community and landscape are all intrinsic to the story, as much a performer in this compelling film as the actors.

So much to unwrap in 8 episodes. Messages are presented as integral without being overbearing. The Burns fan in me goes to "O, wad some Power the giftie gie us To see oursels as others see us! It wad frae monie a blunder free us, An' foolish notion." Cassie's introspection through her subconscious Alex came over will balanced and presents such a vivid backstory to characters so many of us know in real life. Set in a dark and possibly not unreal world in the shadows of what we see, where perhaps nothing is quite as it seems. Perfect? No. Outstanding performances? Some. Worth watching, oh yes.
