Louise Despres Jones

I found the time jumps confusing and fragmenting the story line. The frequent closeups prevent the viewer from appreciating the sets. Casting is awkward and unfortunately unbalanced, with the mother looking as young as the daughters and the youngest looking as old as the others. The main character is so messy and wooden it is tiring to watch. In attempting to be original, the view of past conditions for women represented in this novel is not enhanced, the movie scrambles and loses the fine points. I was disappointed.
