When I was about eleven or twelve, I was given this book, by my great aunt, believe it had been a library book from Central High School, Memphis TN in 1936. Read it then (1950's), read it later in my twenties, and am now reading it again. The stories are really good. The vocabulary, is something that you do not find in many of todays books. Wonder if people just had a richer, larger use of words then? Maybe we are now at such a fast pace in our daily lives, we just use shorter, easier words??? Or maybe our School's English curriculum has just gotten easier??? I find myself wanting to start a vocabulary list while reading this book. Again the stories are most enjoyable! I am surfing the internet to see if I can find a newer edition.
