Sigmund Freud as depicted in the series isn't only about his theory of hypnosis but the series deals with psychological thriller and crimes back in the 20th century . The show depicts his first every psychotic patient whom he treats with hypnosis, that is true. But the series is not a biography of freud because of which there has to be drama. Fictional you see? The show mostly shows as to how a psychotic patient with hysteria sees the world. I think the series did a great job with the theme, setting, plot and character. Also how people during that time dealt with mental illness.
About freud, they have depicted his struggle in a pretty well manner. It took the world 10 years to believe in his theory of hypnosis so I think season one did justice to his initial years of struggle. However, I believe his theory of personality will do justice for his charismatic character in the next season!
