David Sedaris, a hilarious humorist essayist writes as perspective of his French teacher and the approach to the French language. Reading this from college, I'm reminded years later how much of watching Emily in Paris that a students view of a different culture and language impacts the audience with the imagination that we must try to learn from others as Americans born and raised in the U.S. I liked the play on words an mispronunciations and mistakes. We learn by doing and always will.

The film Blinded by the Light brings about Chandra Gurinder the director of Bend Like Beckham (2002) and Bride and Prejudice (2004) to focus the center and attention of Javid, a Pakistani teenager experiencing cultural and social impact in Luton, England. Javid writes poetry to escape his stubborn father’s views. While discovering music from a classmate regarding his taste for Bruce Springsteen, young Javid sees parallels between the lyrics of Springsteen and the working-class environment. His inspiration to become a writer is proven by the works of Springsteen, himself Chandra Gurinder has done it again retelling the socio-cultural aspects of another young soul who’s dream is facing a reality of family, strength, and passion for the human spirit. From films like Bend it Like Beckham, Javid’s dream is something worth fighting for.
