While the writing style is conventional- the setting and story is anything but. One learns about life and customs in a hill tribe of China and the ensuing journey and life of the main character. This is further enhanced by descriptions of the world of tea planting, in particular Pu’er. The time is set around 1949, an extremely significant period in China, politically, socially and economically.

I was tense during the rorting set up but guessed it was going to back fire on the baddie eventually.
The film was a bit of a let down after that and I thought the reasons for the pay back very predictable.
Overall, it was a very predictable movie.
