This is my favorite Star Wars game for a few reasons, which I'll list at the end of the main review. You play as Cal Kestis, a Jedi Padawan who survived Order 66. 4 years have passed since Order 66, and Cal is working in a ship scrapyard on Bracca. He uses the Force to save his friend Prauf from dying, but a droid spots him doing it, and sends Inquisitors to kill him. He escapes the Inquisitors, and meets up with Cere Junda, who explains to him that they can rebuild the Jedi Order if they find a Jedi holocron that has a list of Force sensitive children. Long story short, you travel to multiple planets searching for it, meeting new and old charaters.
The gameplay is very fun, but is for the most part the same as any other melee combat game, but with some unique twists. For one, you have multiple Force powers, such as Force slow, pull, and push, which can be utilized in combat. There is tons of exploration. You can explore 5 worlds: Kashyyyk, Zeffo, Dathomir, Ilum, and Bogano. They all have a unique environment with different forms of plant life, wildlife, and biomes. For example, Kashyyyk is a forested world, while Zeffo is a cold mountainous region. You can find cosmetic items in chests, which can be used to customize Cal, your ship, your lightsaber, and BD-1 - your droid companion. The main story offers about 20 hours of gameplay, but exploration could offer up to 60 hours.
Now for the things I really enjoy about the game: For one, it adds some interesting things to the lore, such as more wildlife. Another is that it doesn't contradict anything (unlike a certain trilogy). And lastly, the graphics and animations are absolutely phenomenal. I think it's also worth mentioning that the water physics and effects are some of the best I've ever seen. The only thing I have a minor gripe with is that frames can drop pretty low sometimes on console, but besides that, it's a great game, and I highly recommend it to anyone who's a fan of Star Wars and/or fighting games.
