"Some cattle grow strong, others are taken by wolves. Some men are born rich enough and dumb enough to enjoy their lives. Ain't nothing fair. You know that!"
That cutscene alone is worthy of five stars.
The songs are all-time great, Compass and Deadman's Gun my favorites.
One of the best things about Red Dead Redemption is that there are no winners. Bill and his gang were annihilated and he was executed blindfolded in Mexico by his former 'brother'. Javier Escuella was either killed by John or hanged, and Dutch's Indians were destroyed by John Marston and the United States army. John did everything he could to redeem himself for the safety of him and his family, but the army attacked his ranch anyway and killed him and Uncle. Abigail died three years later at the age of 37 and Jack Marston killed Edgar Ross and left three witnesses.
Dutch's final speech is still the greatest cutscene in video game history.
"Our time has passed, John".
At the end of the wild west the outlaws and former outlaws alike couldn't fight change. Edgar Ross didn't get to live out his life with his wife in a cabin in Mexico, much like John, but vengeance is an idiots game and he should've sticked to them books.
