The frustrating tendency of the main character to make poor choices has been cited by several other reviewers . That’s the point. Trauma victims tend to repeat their poor choices. The acting was great, though I found the mother’s behavior more on the spectrum of what we call axis 2 ( personality disorders) than axis 1 (“ biological “ illnesses such as bipolar d/o). Alex needed to just set a boundary, which she finally did at the end. For some reason I found the child to be annoying and flat. I found myself wondering why she didn’t just leave the kid with her father and move on with her life.
