It's a product of its time. The first season has some fun adventurous missions. However after season 1 they completely run out of ideas. I'm not sure how many times we can come across energy beings that are beyond our comprehension and then defeat them. There is an absurd amount of misogyny. Which is not too surprising because Gene Roddenberry was a horn dog. Captain Kirk is supposed to be on an exploration mission. However it seems like his real mission is to populate the universe with his children. Every time you finds a woman he tries to have sex with her. Even if she isn't conscious or consenting. Multiple times women have had body transfers and he has tried to have sex with them. I'd say watch the first season but everything after the first season is not very good

Ultimately it's about family. That's what's so powerful about it.
