I’ve always felt that when a book transitions to a screenplay changes are inevitable but should for the most part add to the story. I think this falls with this adaptation. 6.30 comes in late, key characters are changed, some silly additions (the pageant). Yes the heart of the story mostly remains (I hope - let’s see in later episodes) but for such a fabulous book I feel too much has changed. A shame.

Excellent film and perhaps a reminder of some important principles just as relevant (perhaps more so) now as they were then.
