a good free game
as for the quality of the game itself, it was alright! good to pass the time during the pandemic. nothing exceptional, though. the interesting plot was the strongest aspect of the game, as well as the attractive and colorful character designs. each character was gorgeous and fun despite being a pixelated illustration. also, brownie points for effectively scaring the audience. i could barely move, i was so scared! though i personally disliked that, credit must be given where credit is due.
the gameplay itself, however, got tedious at times, and wasn't always completely straightforward (nothing too difficult to figure out though). it was remarkable to notice that there was pretty much nothing unique about that aspect whatsoever. some features of the game were clearly not very well thought out, such as the accumulation and spending of currency, and the mildly frustrating maps. the soundtrack was bland, and the art was on the better side of mediocre. at least half of the dialogue boxes weren't even words ("..........."), and the battles necessary to level up became mundane and repetitive (both made worse by the inability to quickly skip through text). with the bonus comics and the amazing fanart surrounding this game, i'm disappointed to say that it wasn't really worth the hype.
as a free game? it hits the mark. not bad.
