I watched it on DVD player on Long Haul flight, just after it failed in the States, and then, consequently, not released in UK and Europe................I thought the film was great, and, really enjoyed it.. Its biggest mistake was not to release it in the UK, where it would have seen great success...It appeals to us Brits, but it's too subtle for Americans, and of course, the ending is not a "Happy One" Which the masses, and the finance people want. It reflects reality...the film does too.......I am glad the ending was dramatic...We can feel the emotion...Unlike Indecent Proposal where the finance and others demanded a happy ending,thus changing the script to enable the husband to buy the hippo for one million and get his wife back, who before was, apparently, and understandably, quite happy to stay with Redford!!!
