I loved what was done in the first two episodes, shining a light on parts of the novel that previously had gotten little or no coverage in previous adaptations: Harker's recuperation in the convent in episode one and the events on the Demeter in episode two. My problem lies with episode three. Too many half-baked ideas not properly followed through and by the end the whole thing just seemed to run out of steam. A shame, because there's loads to love in the first two episodes - a thrilling, chilling, sexy, witty lead with a formidable adversary that sadly, in the end, disappeared up its own bum the way later Moffat shows like Sherlock and Who did. Four stars for the first two episodes only.
