Was really looking forward to the new Bond. It is woke and has been feminised to a large degree with rom com/Lovie dovie storyline of a Bond loved up. Bond may have retired, but the ‘replacement’ is so en-vogue and woke. It has new agenda, new writing, new wokeness for the brand and a change in era.
Daniel Craig is brilliant as usual. The Bond, Q (he’s nodded to as being gay - completely irrelevant (?), but ticks a box) and Miss Moneypenny characters and chemistry is great as usual. Cinematography, sets, locations and effects are all Bond’esque. However, they are up against the subliminal message of wokeness and the good things I mention don’t quite get over that woke.
It has left open who the Bond will be next time to see reactions to this one - full on woke ticking, or keeping the tradition alive.
It did few like they were closing down the ‘old Bond’ and bringing in the woke. First time I’ve left a Bond thinking I won’t watch that again (at the cinema or TV) and wonder whether I could be bothered watching another one if woke continued.
(Watched the Charlie’s Angels latest film after the earlier ones. The earlier ones were great fun - the new one is woke and rubbish. They’ve done a similar think, but to a lesser degree, with this Bond).
