The New Yorker review is way, way off on this one. The choreography is heart-bursting. The dance — all the dance, not only the brilliant Latin, is high energy resonating with the story. Tony Kushner’s script and newly imagined ending, the chemistry among many key characters but especially between the lovers, the set itself from beginning to end — daring, eloquent. This West Side Story reaches your heart, far more than the sentimental earlier version. It is one of the best musical performances I’ve seen in years.
