I am grateful for the NEWSHOUR and have been a faithful watcher for years. THank you for the good work you are always doing with the news.
What I want to comment on is embarrasing . . . Judy Woodruff's eye makefup (often along with other women reporters) is awful. I sit about 8 to 10 feet from my TV and her eyes look like two black marbles in what could be a dead body.
I've been noticing excessive eyemake for some time--year or so at least and maybe more--but finally today, I have my computer right here and can not resist as this is the worst I've seen in a long time.
Lisa's eye makeup is also excessive but at least her overall face is presented in such a way that it just looks excessive but does not make her look like a dead body with marbles in her eye sockets.
Please explain to me why this is necessary. I notice that the women who are being interviewed look like 'normal' often beautiful women.--as the woman being interviewed is.
I'm wondering if when Judy (and Lisa, etc.) look at how they are presented with the gaudi eyemakeup, is they like how they look or also think their presentation is excessive. Lisa has so much pancake makeup on her face tongiht that her face/head doesn't look like it belongs to her body.
Anyway, I love the work these women do . . . and I am suspecious that perhaps there are some men who think this is needed to 'spice' the gals up for the audience.
Please. Don't do this. It is degrading to what it means to be a woman.
I'm not someone who disapproves of women using makeup. All I'm asking for is for the 'makeup artist' not to make it so excessive . . . I want to see these beautiful women look more natural, rather like mannequins.
Thank you.
