I watch the PBS NewsHour every night and depend on your balanced presentation of the news. Yesterday I was so very proud of your coverage of the assault on our Nation's Capitol and the attack on our Democracy. Lisa DesJardins relentlessly and bravely followed the story from the inside of the Capitol as it was under siege, as the very doors in the Rotunda were being broken through. I was afraid for her and at the same time grateful that a reporter cared as much for getting the story as she was to guard her life in the process. Congratulations, and thank you Lisa! Yamiche Alcindor once again brilliantly & elegantly stood her White House ground , fielded what was going on inside with her amazing network of contacts, then at each turn summarized her news with consistently smart analysis. We can count on Yamiche to tell us the truth. I think Yamiche epitomizes a laser focus on uncovering truth, and speaking truth to power. Congratulations Yamiche. There in the midst of the melee was Amna Nawaz, another brave reporter, giving us play-by-play on the ground - in a constant danger zone of the chaos and rioters. She was forced to move her location time after time for safety, but she kept her eyes on the scene and never stopped keeping us informed. Congratulations Amna. All these reporters were supported by their equally dedicated camera crews. And true north, Judy Woodruff was the PBS NewsHour lynch pin throughout the entire debacle. With no commercial or sponsor breaks to distract from what was critically important, Judy anchored solid wall-to-wall coverage of this threat to our Constitution and our Democracy. This was demanding and relentless since she did not share that anchor chair with anyone else. Congratulations Judy. Thank you all. On a day of unspeakable shame in America, your coverage gave me hope that we could rise above the disorder and lawlessness.
