I did not enjoy this film, which is a surprise because I LOVE the story and am usually open minded to modern adaptions. I felt this fell entirely flat. It was boring. To me there was no gravity in the story, unlike the 1993 version which makes you feel right along with the characters. There was no real tension where there should have been, and alternatively they tried to manufacture mystery and tension by having Dickon at first appear silently through fog - for reasons I still don't understand. I think aristic atmosphere can really add to a story, but in this film I didn't think it worked very well.
Really, really disappointing and bland. I did not like it one bit and I can't believe such a good story could be so unenjoyable. If I had never read the book, or seen previous adaptions I still don't think I would have liked it. Did not grab me or bring into the tale at all. They stripped the story bare and there was nothing left of it.
