It's a wonderful film! I was especially moved by the story of the nun who was raped within the Church by her male superior, and to discover that 30% of nuns face sexual harassment - as well as the uplifting story of the Japanese manga artist who is fighting for the depiction of female sexual desire from women's points of view in a male-dominated society. As the author of a novel about sexual liberation and its consequences, I'm heartened by the possibility that films like this will bring more readers to my own work as well, and lead to further healing and pleasures for women.

Jennifer Kent's "The Nightingale" is one of the most important films about racism that I have ever seen, with many parallels to important issues of sexism. If every movie-going adult were to watch this film, with its seldom matched honesty, beauty and power, the world would be a better place.
