This is so representative of a particular social order and yet so universal, so identifiable, possible only when a remarkable amount of sincere work, creative thinking and in-depth characterisation come together. Not to mention the superb acting by all, like an easy flow of a sparkling stream. Anybody would enjoy it anywhere.

An utterly deplorable mess like all other Byomkesh whodunit flcks.

Profoundly existential. A spiritual interpretation of love, hope and despair. This is not only about the American West, it goes way beyond. The most poignant moment for me is the prospector returning all but one egg to the owl's nest.

What I like most about the film is that it sustained the spirit and the integral sombre scale all along, never wavered for a moment. A sincere, well thought out effort.

The allegorical significance of this linear movie is unmistakable. It's not telling a story, so it's pointless to criticize some parts of it which you may or may not expect or expect differently. One can't criticize imagination. The film actually is a patch of imagination, vivid, born out of the morbidity and unrest in our lives. You may or may not like it, depending upon the state of mind you are in.

It's really a fantastic experience to get awed by the incredible acting potential of the actors without having known any of them before.

1st & 3rd seasons are outstanding due to the movement of the plot and people, incredible acting and a convincing reality. The inevitable pull of evil juxtaposed by good force in life is so richly explored. Thornton and Macgregor, two completely different ranges of performance, chief architects of its success. And Freeman of course, who can do any character anywhere.

It's not just a brilliant movie. It's about transformation, highest magnitude of detached sacrifice, the incredible greatness which is actually reachable.Yes, it's a Southern American tale but the intrinsic spirit is universal. The essential Indian spiritual concept of 'One in all' is quite palpable and that the soul is the door to the life divine, beyond the mind's shackle is what the film is all about. A film about the sunlit path described only in Indian spiritual, not religious, books like Upanishads or Life Divine which nobody cares to read today.

Excellent film because it dealt quite successfully the secret dream and hope universally cherished, of meeting the right person who is always out there dwelling in the soul beyond our mind's purview.
