We were looking for a movie suitable for whole family (incl 8 and 9 yo). Saw this on Prime Video and thought to give it a try. Well, I'm so happy that we did.
Wonder is about a boy (named Auggie) who was born with facial disfiguration, and his first year in a school after being home schooled by his mum. At first, it feels like another one of those feel good movie, a boy overcoming huge challenges and difficulties, and with the support of his family and friends, excel and succeed in life.
But what made this movie stand out, is when it start showing views/perspective of other people in Auggie's life, and retrospectively explained some of their actions. And that, greatly increased the depth of this movie. It goes beyond the surface by showing how others, appeared all happy on the outside, are struggling in their own unique way. That is what make this movie great.
If you haven't watched this yet, I strongly recommend it. I'm usually a sci-fi, action type of person, but I truly enjoyed it.
