Not a strong film in the slightest. I had very high hopes for this movie, I saw the trailer and thought that it might be something different with it's cool setting and antagonist. I was sorely let down. For starters, the acting was beyond awful. The emotional scenes didn't land. They came off very robotic, whether it was the main character talking about his sad past or his sister explaining her hardship, there wasn't much good acting and I can't tell if it was bad directing or if the actors were just not great. The funny scenes weren't all that great either, just generic marvel humor, (which isn't a bad thing) but coupled up with the lead and his love interest made for some really unfunny moments that came off as campy and try hard. The plot was all over the place too, I won't spoil (I should honestly, to save you a headache) but it was awful. Full of plot holes, it felt rushed. You can tell too at the end of the movie for it to make sense they threw in some random flashbacks to try and piece it together, but they were just beating a dead horse. The character's arcs weren't present, the characters you first meet don't change at all by anything at the end of the movie in the slightest. No development or anything to speak of. The dialogue is very unnatural and could have used some revisions to make it more human. On a positive note the fights scenes were well done. They way they used the environments and the environments they actually fought in were well done and fun to watch. The martial arts was really enjoyable, and it was fun to watch some of the fight scenes, even it didn't make sense for them to be fighting. The soundtrack was pretty as well, marvel always does that so not much to be said other than the fact that the use of asian instruments were very fresh while adding some theming to the setting the characters were in. Overall bad movie with a horrible plot, awful acting, but had some redeeming qualities (although not enough to save the film) in the fight scenes and soundtrack.
