This is my all time favorite novel. There really isn't a close second. The first miniseries with Gary Sinise was decent but not outstanding. It was at least true to the source material.
Let me get this out of the way early: I am fine with artistic license and vision. Do your best and show us your vision.
That being written this feels rushed, the time skips are unnecessary and add confusion where there need not be any and the character arcs are so condensed.
In an ideal world each of the main characters would have had an arc built purely for them in season 1 with snippets of the McGuffin in S1: Randall Flagg. Each character would have the opportunity to shine and BREATH and let the audience grow with them.
The source material could easily create a 3-5 season story arc. S1 culminates with the power turning on in Boulder and it ends with the first REAL glimpse of Flagg.
I will watch until the end as it is called "The Stand" even if the EPs and writers butchered it so horribly. I am being generous with the 2 star rating. The overall number of 1.6 feels accurate.
CBS dropped the ball. Big Time.
I signed up for All Access FOR this show. Let's put it this way: the final season of Game of Thrones was better than this dreck.
