Not perfect but pretty realistic from what I know of the period. Well scripted,well cast, well acted , well shot and well balanced as well as being leagues ahead of series 2 of SAS Rogue Heroes which. I have now abandoned. Interestingly the series also provides an insight into the American phsyche and is therefore relevant to current events Arguably better than both The Revenant and The English which cover similar ground.

I bought this book shortly after publication at a time when the closest anyone got to serious violence was watching the clashes between Mods and Rockers. In recent years I've looked at the subject matter again especially given the number of drama series and documentaries covering the growth of MC Gangs and culture. Thompson deals with the subject matter with a deal of skill taking the reader into the heart of Angel culture whilst retaining the necessary detachment. He is particularly good at covering the relationship between bikers and hippies as they met over the drug culture developing at that time. A revealing read that still stands up to this day - I'll never forget that in The Wild One Lee Marvin was as close to a depiction of an Angel as you can get so much so that someone ( maybe Barger?) bought the striped t Shirt he wore in the film.

Hell's Angels

The facts speak for themselves but the authors ( with the exception of the doctor?) only seem interested in themselves. Heidi in particular comes across as selfish and promiscuous . Is it a surprise that the UN is a shambles on the ground - no (no more than it is not a surprise that citizens of the US have no understanding of other cultures!).Exploitative and insensitive penned to exploit rather than to inform.

I'm 75 and still a blues fan. This was a roller coaster of a ride which told me a lot about both the music and the lives of the people involved - and answered a number of questions. It helped that I'd watched the excellent Top Boy which had exposed me to a range of styles and I was pleased that I'd come across it by chance. All credit to those involved for their dedication and application - I'm not sure I'd go to a rave but at least I have a better understanding of the roots of the music. Held my attention throughout.
