The fist two movies were great. Catchy music, good dance numbers, good story message. Descendants 3 is a dud. Music is not catchy. It's a mixture of Disneyfied rap and Pop. Dance numbers are just ok. The most original is the Knights Fall sequence.
The story message however is a mess. Yes bad can come from all groups in society. It's a personal decision to choose good over evil. But when one chooses evil then one paste consequences for that choice. Audrey paid no consequence. She wasn't under an evil spell. She did nothing to earn her Redemption.
Uma was a better character to tell the story of good in everyone and forgiveness for those wanting a second chance.
Dropping the barrier and letting all the villains out was just stupid. It goes against everything established in the first two movies. The barrier is there because the villains made their choice to be evil. the reason the Isle was so terrible for the children is that the villains continue to be evil. don't forget how the VK kids in the first movie were terrified of their parents retribution for becoming good. Or how they had never really known love because of their terrible upbringing. that's why they wanted to give other VK kids a chance to come to auridon and learn true friendship and love.
Only redeeming factor in this movie is to see Cameron Boyce's last performance. He was a truly entertaining young actor. And he was a kind and loving soul to those who knew him. I'm glad that he was able to finish out this Descendants series. I just wish the finale had been better written for him.
