The movie is not just a retelling of the Batman franchise but it is actually rebirth. Matt Reeves portays the 'Dark Knight' not just one who saves and protects everyone but who also falls, hurts and occasionally 'breaks' when put under strain. He uses themes of righteousness, vengeance and justice, and tells the story with echoes of the chaos and upheaval that swept America towards the end of 2020. Every frame of the movie was carefully crafted with its shadowy atmospheric style carried by a suspenseful music score. Overall, a very satisfying watch.

Even though it's a non-western film, the themes are cross-cultural and universal. It's not long into the story before you get into the Korean-ness and get carried in its gathering storm. Then at the end you feel super-soaked, shaken but charged by the experience.
