I love to refer to a “coincidence” as a “God Wink” – it represents, far more accurately, what I personally believe happens in our lives. With that said, it was a very significant God Wink, when I unexpectantly found “When BlueBirds Fly”. I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and went “looking” for resources that would deepen my understanding of the grief experience for parents who have lost a child. I have experienced significant grief and loss, personally, but recognize that it does not “equate” to the experience of parents’ grief.
From the moment I first began reading “When BlueBirds Fly”, I didn’t want to put it down. It was engaging, compelling … raw, authentic, believable – an honest picture into the unique grief process of parents that is not “talked about”. I absolutely believe this book will “equip” me, as a therapist, to “work” with clients experiencing this kind of grief, more effectively… more compassionately. It will inform my responses/insight/presence, not only for my clients, but for those in my personal life that have/are going through this experience. I am deeply grateful for the gift JoAnn Kuzma Devaney had the courage share with the world and highly recommend this book.
