This review is NOT spoiler free.
I'll just say, this show is absolutely excellent. The characters feel like real people, the cinematography effective and compelling, and the writting is beyond great.
*SPOILERS*
However, I have three very minor gripes.
1. Not ONCE does anybody say the word "Vampire", its like somehow nobody once connected the dots of "oh theres a winged, blood-drinking monster that turns others into young, healthy, blood-drinking people? No idea what that could possibly be." Again, very pedantic, but doesn't detract from the quality of the show.
2. The old-person makeup on some actors. Truth be told, I never noticed the extent to just how much younger everyone was until the last episode or two. However, Mildred is VERY clearly a young person in not-convincing makeup, but its made obvious because she's supposed to be probably the oldest resident of the island. On my second watch, Riley's father is also very clearly not as old as he's supposed to be.
3. Towards the end, Sarah tries to rationalize whats happening to everyone with scientific medical hypotheses. While it did make sense, I feel like it would have been simpler and equally effective to just write it as a supernatural disease or something spread by the (not a vampire) monster.
Again, I doubt these take away from the quality of the show as a whole, just some minor issues I noticed.
