An interesting alegory of polítics and morals. Witherspoon's character Is shown as the cub that has all the makings of a Washington type. She lies, embezzles and has nothing to live for except her ambitions. She knows the académic definition of ethics and morals but has no use for them. His antagonist, Broderick's teacher, tries to live by those principles but as any ordinary man, he finds the task quite difficult if not imposible. He's too weak and prone to any kind of temptations. He Also fails when he bends the rules trying to stop her nemesis. He soon finds out a simple truth of life. No matter how well and how long You try to behave, unlike those politicians that get away with everything, to the everyday guy any single fault Will weight much heavier than a bundle of good deeds. Since it comes from a good book, the story intertwines with other well drawn characters such as the finehearted and candid jock and her troubled sister. Quite a good show.
