When you watch the series it is clear that they spent a lot of money for this series hastily, almost everything is carefully and meticulously designed and fitted into the series unnecessarily, but it has few problems that is undoing grandiosity of the series: 1. There is too many ideas, philosophies, perspective going on in the series, that it is clouding the image of the story itself. It should have been clean, epic, parallel stories. 2. Their goal for this series was to be perfect, both attention to details whether in image or in story or makeup ... and perfect story, which is undoable. Let me give you an example: in the lotr fellowship movie, they were gathered in Rivendel to talk about the ring, it was epic and yet brief. But in the rings of power series it is the opposite, for example: several detailed discussion with whether numenor should go to war or not, which was too trivial and long even for a series. 3. The series wants to build the whole story into an epic story bit by bit, which is more like a modern TV series, rather than lotr of Tolkien. Tolkien gradually turned nice and cozy hobbit atmosphere into epic story of battle between evil and good, Although he made a lot effort so that we can imagine the imagery and the events in the story, but he didn't write trivial stuff into the story. 4. It seems they have fallen into the fallacy of believing that the series was going to be perfect just because of the budget even before the series was made. All in all the series is just good, if it didn't have the first tier visual effects and imagery, it would have been a disaster. In the movie even passing by giant statues on the bay of the river feels epic and gives me goosebumps, but nothings in this series feels epic. For the movie passion and effort made it great, but for series they thought budget would do that. Yet I have decided to watch all of the seasons, bad or good.

Such a pity, Mark Wahlberg career in cinema is getting worse each second. He was one of my favorites, now his focus is elsewhere and plays whatever role comes his way.

007 meets frozen and moana or maybe Barbie in a bad way. Watching Bryce Dallas Howard doing unreal acrobatic black widowy thing wasn't the worst part. Worst part was the shallow incoherent story that was like an episode of a bad written forgotten TV series. I am ashamed of myself for watching this movie.

Is it so hard to believe that M.Night Shyamalan has no good idea for a movie? He just wants to make his audience to gasp. Same plot twists, same plot formulas, bad character development, worse dialogues. He hasn't made a movie with a good idea for plot which is developed into good script for almost 18 years. This is the difference between artist like Nolan and him. Nolan tries (I am not saying he does, but tries) to have a fresh idea in the center of the plot with a fresh way to explore the narrative, while some directors have never-changing formula with different numbers in each movie. I think it is safe to say that someone like Shyamalan has lost his place in a cinema in which artists like Denis Villeneuve (,whom movies are almost always good,) are becoming more and more frequent. But then again there should be movies like "Old" or "Malignant" among movies like "Dune" , "Tenet" , "The suicide squad" , "Knives out" , "Us", ... so we appreciate a good movie and don't get used to good. I mean there would be no excellent without mediocres and terribles.

I love movies, any kind, any genre, from Denis Villeneuve to whatever, even trash ones. Even if there were no good movies to watch, I'd watch something as bad as Transformers or Expandables. It is extraordinary that Malignant is so poorly made and has a extremely 2nd rate amateur idea (, like it is an joke example used in a conversation in a script writing class for children) that makes Fast and Furious seem Ingmar Bergman masterpiece. I almost never have this kind of opinion about a movie, unless movie maker wants the audience to. If James Wan recorded a puppet show and put a subtitle from the first moment that said: "I have no idea for a horror movie, but people think I do, so please please pretend to be scared, so I won't fade into footnote of a book about cult movies" with a name like: ooohhh my teddy bear is a supernatural serial killer with one eye; he would have done far more superior job than Malignant. It is really sad that nowadays there is a system in cinema industry which reluctantly allows for movies like this one to be made or someone without any shred of talent to be a director. Who knows maybe one day I directed a movie with this title: adopted child with three hands and eight horns who happened to be an alien but our weapon was love!
