this movie is the literal problem with film adaptations of books. there was no emotional impact that was felt in the book and the adaptation cut corners in material, changed order of the events in the book, didnt make the relationship meaningful, blew off major plot details in the book, and changed the ending of a beautifully written book. director should be ashamed
