I'll keep it vague to prevent spoilers for anyone!
Pro's: Incredible animation and some absolutely stunning, gorgeous scenery
- INCREDIBLE voice acting and, what i assume was motion capture acting also.
- Princess Mononoke reference
- Level design was great and detailed, i noticed a lovely Dungeons and Dragons table which was great.
- Great side character called Lev. I would have loved if he was explored more, however.
Cons: Gameplay is clunky and feels unfinished. The Sway on the reticle doesnt match the guns sway and is also far to clunky to be fun at all.
- The first big story event is stupid and seems untrue to the characters as they would not have acted in such a way.
- Whilst i have no problem with the premise of the story, i felt the execution was weak. Love triangles which seemingly served no purpose other than to create some teen/YA drama.
- Contradicting characters and motives.
-Characters acting completely against their own beliefs and morals and even their recent past selves in the same situation.
- Too many jump scares to the point i was constantly expecting something so nothing was scary.
- Main characters playing catch up constantly and never doing anything significant really
- Build up of tension to a climax at the middle of the game to tear it all away and begin another slow build of tension. Took away motivation to play.
- A lot of holding buttons to open doors and such needlessly to stretch out the length of the game.
- Whilst i agreed with most of the social/political commentary in the game, there was so much it meant there wasn't much time to really develop and explore those issues. This made them feel diluted and forced imo. Almost like the writers(?) didn't really care for the issues but wanted to get on peoples good sides.
- Didn't have as much heart as the first game. Felt like they made a sequel for monetary reasons rather than because it was part of the natural cycle of the story.
- I need to reiterate how awful the love triangles were
- Story was uninspired in general, wasn't as deep an exploration of characters as the first and the story was rather predictable, even the ending was easy to forsee.
- Introduces characters to seemingly just kill them for shock factor
