It feels like I'm playing a game that is ALMOST complete, but still not ready for release quite yet. Lots of good here, love the way the models look and the world is colorful and interesting to look at. However, there are some aspects missing that would turn this game into something that would have been viewed as an amazing addition to the franchise.
Fans are very vocal about their love for pokemon mounts and the ability for mons to follow you like in Let's Go, and I'm not sure why they decided to take that out. A small detail, but something that helps create immersion and make you feel like you are a character from the anime. Speaking of immersion, I am also confused about why shiny Pokemon no longer appear shiny in the overworld. Again, not a huge problem but another neglected detail that fans would appreciate in the future.
I think my main complaint is the lack of playability after the story. No Battle Frontier-esque area? Other than training for competitive battles, I wish there was something to do after beating the story that isn't just random battles with NPCs in one builing.
Overall, the game is just ok. I stand with what I said before, which is that it feels like I played a demo version of a soon-to-be released game. With just a little more attention to detail, and dedication to creating a post-game that keeps fans coming back after the campaign, it would feel complete.
