I believe we should all encourage our young generation to watch this drama above all else, as it shatters all the unrealistic expectations and visions that other dramas have created. It is refreshing and tackles many issues of young and adult life; it is more philosophical and about life than about romance.
The actress is amazing; I have never seen an actress so carefree and beautiful in her art. I hope she plays more great roles. The other leads also did a great job; there was no toxicity or those baseless stereotypes, like love triangles, misunderstandings, and hiding one's feelings
Often, a drama starts with the main lead's passion in life and fails to show that passion along the way, but this drama kept it up until the last season. It is a different drama of friendship, youth, love, support, passion, and understanding.
**Spoilers**
If you have loved someone with all your heart and still had to let them go because both your paths were separated and it was hard to find time to be happy together, you will understand the ending. It is better to be separated than to be miserable together. What is the point of a relationship when you can't celebrate the most important moments with each other?
I was angry and upset with the ending as well, but I understood that it was necessary. Instead of creating another unrealistic ending, the writers decided to go the real way, where two people let each other go, despite how bad it hurts them. Time heals everything. Two people who are so in love can be miserable together as well. It is necessary to leave for your peace and happiness; many dramas don't show that. Why does the other person have to be a bad one to make you realize that you are better off without them? That is not how life works; sometimes the best people fail to make you happy.
It was a beautiful drama. I was curious about who Na Hee chose to marry and how they fell in love, but I was disappointed that they didn't show us. It would have been nice to see her find someone who stuck around on important days, as she deserves someone like that after living such a lonely childhood. But again, I guess they wanted to focus on the painful portion of the drama. We were in pain watching it, even though behind the show, both the leads had moved on and were living happy lives.
I read a review that said that Hee Do was selfish in the end; she was, and I am so glad for that. She had lived her entire life trying to understand her mother's absence, Yurim's anger towards her, and Yejin's sudden disappearance. She was always the one to understand people without them ever explaining. I think she deserves to be selfish in leaving someone with whom she will always have to be the one to understand, wait, and sacrifice. She would have lived her life in loneliness, and she chose not to let that happen. That, to me, is courage and self-love.
I have seen countless dramas where one of the leads is always ready to die to be with the other, no matter the odds or how miserable they are. It was so refreshing to watch someone so young realize that she deserves better. That the constant loneliness and pain aren't worth sacrificing her youth for, she also understood how miserable Ye Jin was with constant apologies. To me, she is a very strong character, and we can all learn from her courage to follow her happiness and passion, no matter how hard it is or how much it hurts.
