It’s a visual masterpiece, thanks to Joaquin Phoenix. The storyline/plot could have been more developed. You don’t fully feel empathetic towards Arthur, you’re just watching a train wreck. You don’t feel very empathetic towards anyone he killed, they all “asked for it” to a degree. So the movie lacked the depth that could have made it a really thrilling movie. It doesn’t truly tug at your emotions, but rather is relying on only a shock factor.
