I’d just like to add that while the games lacked Platinum context and national dex beyond Sinnoh, in their defense, the games revolved around mostly DP context and mechanics rather than using the ones from Platinum inorder to try and please the fans by keeping almost everything the same with some modern changes made, no game is perfect and I’d like to believe those game were a test and created Platinum to improve on their own mistakes, same case with the remakes.
They are imperfect games, but they tried to stick with it, making several changes to make the games more easier/harder depending on your experience with playing Pokémon.
I would thank the developers for their efforts if they would have made any efforts in actually making a game that does the originals and it's sequel Platinum justice.
In the end, if you never played DP on the NDS, I would give it a try. I played Diamond back in the day and realized had no recollection of my original adventure. After playing Brilliant Diamond over a decade later from the original, I understood why I my teenage brain didn't remember anything.
