A beautifully filmed story - with a brilliant cast. One of my top 3 Christmas movies!

Bergman and Grant show their acting ranges in a context that brings out their best. The intrigue and suspense reflect Hitchcock’s mastery as an auteur. This is a work of cinema art which many of us will watch over and over. Claude Raines also one of the film greats. The only criticism I have is that I see very little humor - and I love to laugh. If you watch closely in the first 30 minutes you will get a preview of Grant and Grace Kelly in To Catch a Thief.

This film has an atmosphere of deep authenticity to its time in history - and genuinely represents the triumph of the soul in the face of an apathetic and ghastly culture. It is a literary enthusiast’s film - a story of personal awakening and ultimately, a poignant experience & a tribute to maturity of the spirit. Well worth seeing and paying close attention.
