My goodness this is so disappointing. Cannot understand why BC allowed this complete dismantling of his book. The casting and acting is all over the place. I managed 3 episodes in case it improved...gave up then. Main reason I persevered with 3 episodes was to try and work out what accent Derfel had. Still have no clue. Why on earth did not just follow the book?

Great series that has stood the test of time and an example of letting a series grow which probably wouldn't happen now. Fantastic scripts and a joy to watch George Cole one of the finest comic actors of all time.

Never really watched the series, however accompanied my wife to see the film version. I thoroughly enjoyed it and found the whole couple of hours extremely entertaining and a welcome distraction from the ugly place Britain has become, even if the film is of course pure fiction. As with the Greatest Showman I suggest you stick 2 fingers up to the critics and have a look.

After a shaky start I'm starting to warm to this. I still can, t get used to how flakey Jodie Whittakers Doctor is and she seems a mash up of Tennant and Matt Smith. I almost turned off after 20 mins tonight but then the episode (after an unexpected plot twist) turned into a quite beautiful piece of television. Wonderful piece of writing. At times this series has belonged on The kids channel but CC is starting to show his. skill and each episode is understandable to all
